1942, KOVNO GHETTO'S JEWISH GHETTO FIREFIGHTERS ARMBAND. Armband illustrations from the yearbook "slobodka ghetto 1942". Jewish ghetto firefighters (top) the ghetto messengers (centere) here described as 10- to 12-year-old boys who ran communications between the Altestenrat and its officers. The Firefighters were responsibie for the bafbed-wire fences around the entire ghetto. but approaching the ghettro fence could draw the death penalty.
