1924, British Mandate Palestine, the 1st Postage Due issue - 8m mauve stamp (Bale # D4), affixed to a cover originating from England. The cover was under-franked for double weight postage, bearing only 1 1/2d. stamp. It was postmarked at Donew with a circular date stamp (cds) and an octagonal 'T/35' postmark, indicating an international postage due situation. Upon arrival, a local 'To Pay /8 Mils' postmark was stamped on the front of the cover. And an 8mil 1st postage due stamp was affixed and canceled in Jerusalem, January 1924. Cat. estimate at $600
