In 1961, Israel successfully launched a missile for atmospheric research, designed, built and launched by a team of Israeli scientists and technicians.
When the missile was launched, Israel entered as the seventh member of the small club of countries that launch missiles into the atmosphere.
Obverse: A stylized drawing of the earth. From a launching facility in Israel, a rocket rises up and up between the stars of the sky. The inscription: "Derekh Kochav from Ya'akov" in Numbers 24:17. On the rim - translating the address into English.
