All tied by Cape Town Dec 6 cds. hand marked 'Airmail to Cairo' and signed by pilot (of another flight). On back: CapeTown Registeration label, and hand stamp 'Insufficiently paid for Airmail / Cairo' besides 'Cairo Airmail / Dec. 16' cds.Enclosed with 'KISMET // Cape Town' head-letter, tipped and signed by the pilot, explaining his signature on an envelope that was not flown by himself.

South Africa 1932, (Jan. 26) First Flight - weather delayed letter - The Imperial Airways liner 'City of Delhi' after leaving Salsibury on January 29th 1932 encountered a violent storm and was forced to land in a swamp and became bogged. 6 days later the mail was recovered and brought into Broken Hill. Only Registered letters have the Johannesburg and Salisbury backstamping, as seen in the back of this cover.
