Prisoner of CONSCIENCE, Brutalist Bronze Pendant Brooch, Yigal Tumarkin, Israeli Artist Jewelry, Modernist Necklace, Vintage Jewelry, Unisex
This pendant/pin was part of a series designed by Israeli artists. I believe they were commissioned as gifts to people who raised money for Israel bonds.
This is a rich goldtone pendant/brooch in brutalist style, by one of Israel’s most renowned artists, Yigal Tumarkin.
It is known as the “Prisoner of Conscience” for the abstracted figure depicted--an important reminder of the struggles of people of conscience the world over,. This is one of the most sought after of this series of artist jewelry produced in Israel in the 1970s.
It was made with and without decorative stones and this is the unadorned version. Chain is included.
Size: 2 1/2” x 1 7/8”, chain measures 18 1/2". Marks: Tumarkin
Scarce (1853-54) M.A. Abrahams Missouri Token, Miller-Mo-41,
(1853-54) M.A. Abrahams, Weston, MO, Miller-MO-41,. Brass. This outstanding token was issued when Missouri was the jumping-off location for the Wild West. Merchants such as Abrahams provided goods for emigrants and traders who traveled in long wagon trains out to Oregon, New Mexico, California, and elsewhere. Abrahams was previously located in Independence, MO, in the 1830s and 1840s before moving to Weston. The token is about as nice as can be found. A similar piece in AU brought $330 in 1988, and an Uncirculated piece brought $450 in 1992. The obverse features a rendition of George Washington, with a denomination 10 below the bust. The reverse has a bit of dark staining that scarcely detracts from this rare and highly collectible Missouri token.
