A photograph from 1947 of Chaim Weizmann (1874-1952), a Zionist leader and Israeli statesman who served as president of the Zionist Organization and then as the first president of Israel (1949-52). OLD FRIENDS GREETED WEIZMANN when he visited Boston on October 11, 1947, to address the opening rally of the Combined Jewish Appeal. On the left is Harry Levine of Leominster and on the right, is Dewey Stone of Brockton, both prominent in Zionist circles and close friends of the b noted statesman and scientist.
