Arthur Szyk's Lithograph Print for Canada's  UN Stamp Album frontispiece

  • This captivating lithograph print by Arthur Szyk was crafted for Canada's stamp album frontispiece, showcasing the nation's rich heritage and identity. At the top, Canada's coat of arms takes center stage, surrounded by a colorful array of detailed emblems representing various aspects of Canadian history and culture.
  •  Symbols such as the maple leaf, a ship, a beaver, and a lion symbolizing royal heritage are prominently featured within eleven square tiles. The inclusion of James Wolfe and Louis-Joseph de Montcalm underscores the historical significance of the Battle of Quebec in shaping Canada's dual French and British heritage. Additional designs, including a moose, horse, tree, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, wheat sheaf, unicorn, hunter, and harp, further enrich the illustration, reflecting the diverse history and identities of Canada's provinces and territories. The bottom of the design features two bears and the Union Jack, emphasizing the historical connection between Canada and Great Britain.
