1863, Netherlands (Pays-Bas), by sea cover to Rome. A well-traveled cover from Roermond, Netherlands, dated April 7, 1863, red cds (indicating the postage rate will be paid by the receiver). Addressed to Monsieur R.H. Cuypers, Architect, at the Hospice dell' Anima in Rome, Italy. The cover traveled by sea and features the maritime semi-circular handstamp "CIVITAVECCHIA DALLA VIA DI MARE," in black, used on letters that disembarked at the port of Civitavecchia, Italy.
