Mongolia. 1917 (May 31). Cover from London to Calcutta, water stamping and the stamp washed off, hand-stamped oval "ACCIDENT AT SEA / MONGOLIA / 23.6.17", back stamped at Bombay and Calcutta (July 26). The "Mongolia" struck a mine sixty miles from Bombay and sank with the loss of 23 lives.
