Lot of 244+ airmail stamps on First Day Covers (FDCs) 1924-1945. Many are first flight covers of early airmail routes and First Day of Issue stamps, with a few from air races and Zepplin flights. Perf. with USSR air mail cachet sent via Berlin-Zentralflughafen to Erfurt, arrive 7.11.1928 BerlinLuxembourg 1935 (July 17) This remarkable flight was organized by the famous rocketeer of the 1930s, Karl Roberti. The covers bear a 10c Intellectuals stamp with a "Visitez / Clervaux / Son Abbaye / Son Château" slogan cancellation as well as two private Roberti labels (one green, one brown) showing his rocket in flight above Clervaux. The two labels are cancelled with a purple cachet that reads "1. Raketenflug / Mit flüssige treibstoffen / (Kohlensäurerakete) / Clerf-Clervaux 17-7-35 / R.Kr.1 Luxemburgia" (translation: 1st rocket flight; With liquid propellant; (Carbonic acid rocket)). Beautiful transit cancels Salt River, Johannesburg, Cape Town Postmarked in January 30, 1932.Netherlands, 1928 (Nov 27), John Carberry Flight, Amsterdam - Cairo, pictorial envelope featuring Carberry''s plane, "Miss Africa" franked with two special labels tied by Schipol Aerodrome, Amsterdam boxed flight cachets/cancels; addressed to Carberry in Cairo and reposted to London with Egyptian stamp tied on the reverse by Dec 6 Cairo machine cancel. Jesus medal in silver metal, c. 16th C.; not maker-marked; size: 39mm; weight: 14.61g; thickness: 3mm. obverse: left facing Christ, with Hebrew initial "Alef" (for 'Adoneinu' - 'Our Lord') & "Yeshu" ('Jesus') on either side. reverse 5-line Hebrew legend (with incorrect letters) based on Hill p.50 ex. 2a (but "Adam" twice) : משיח | מלך בא בש | לום ואדמ א | דם עשוי | חי. Portrait of Christ said to be of Venetian School; medal issued in 16th Century to Jewish converts to Christianity. A similar medal (38mm in bronze) to this one was sold at auction (2009) for $1300.
